Voxan EV Motorcycle To Become The World’s Fastest Electric Motorcycle
Monaco-based Voxan has managed to capture the title of the world’s fastest electric motorcycle along with setting 11 other records.
The Voxan introduced three bikes in streamlined, partially streamlined, and standard form, was built to be the fastest electric motorcycle in the world. It is cooled by dry ice and uses a 317 kW (425 hp) motor and 15.9 kWh battery.
The bike motor is around four times as powerful as most flagship electric motorcycle such as the Zero SR/F and Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the battery capacity is roughly equivalent to today’s leading consumer electric motorcycles. The major difference comparison to other electric motorcycles is that the Voxan Wattman consumes much of its battery power in a few runs, compared to others that make it ride for hours.
The subsidiary of Venturi (luxury electric car brand) and a Formula E race team was planning to set new world speed records in time for its 20th Anniversary early this year in July on the planet’s largest salt flat, Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the unlikely prospect of travelingto Bolivia, the company was forced to postpone the attempt until 2021. Now, with hardly any flights, an opportunity has arisen. Gildo Pastor, President of Venturi, has opted to set up at Châteauroux airport, in central France, whose runway meets the criteria laid down by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation). The group is planning to attempt to beat the records over three days starting on October 30, 2020.
The highest speed achieved during the many runs by Voxan Wattman was clocked at 408 km/h (254 mph). The most sought-after record achieved by the team was the “Partially streamlined electric motorcycle over 748 kilos” speed record. Biaggi achieved a top speed of 366.94 km/h (228.05 mph) on the semi-streamlined Voxan Wattman during this run. Per FIM rules, the run was performed over the course of 1 mile (1.6 km) in two opposite directions and from a flying start.
Now, Voxan is also preparing a street legal version in the future for those with a serious need for speed.
