Following this math, the Model S Tesla with 60 Kilowatt-hours of capacity got 42.25% of its price coming from battery, adding US $30,000 to its cost. Tesla’s cost has been proportional to the storage capacity of their batteries. The company is being through massive research and development to develop technologies for better performance at cheaper cost. At present, the top models of Tesla cars with their prices are the Roadster, Model X, Model S and Model 3.

Tesla Roadster is supposed to hit the roads in 2020. This car is the latest in the production line up as the most advanced of all cars by the brand so far. As claimed, the Roadster will take only 1.9 seconds to reach the speed of 60 mph from 0. The car has a top speed of more than 250 mph. It is an all-wheel drive car with a range of 620 miles or 1000 km on a single charge. The battery used in here is 200 kWh.

Tesla Model X starts as US $80,700. This car runs on a battery ranging from 75D to P100D. Tesla claims that P100D can reach 0 to 60mph in 2.9 seconds. Model X has spacious interior with high-tech features. The design is made attractive with Falcon Wing door. It has an all-wheel-drive mechanism. Tesla’s Autopilot semi-autonomous driving is optional. This car is in production since 2016. The latest models were released in 2018.

Model S (US $75,700)

It is a luxury car that was featured to provide 100% satisfaction in a survey in December 2017. In 2015 and 2016, Model S was top selling plug-in electric car globally. By the end of 2017, more than 200,000 units of this model was sold worldwide. In 2018 May, Tesla released the source code for Model S online. This car is available in different versions comprising of different battery, motor or equipment. Since September 2014, Model S began to support auto-pilot options, allowing hands free driving.

Tesla Model 3 was expected to be the most affordable car at the price of US $35,000. However, a recent battery update and several added features brought up the forecasted price to about US $50,000. Model 3 was unveiled in 2016 and reservations are going on since then. But the car first hit the roads only by the middle of 2017. By October 2018, recently, Tesla delivered 94,269 units of Model 3 cars. By July and August of 2018, it already became the bestselling car by revenue in North America.
