Alta Orologeria’s One-Of-A-Kind Timepieces Scream Opulence! 

Dolce & Gabbana has partnered with Switzerland based manufacture to create an all-new Alta Orologeria collection that captures the brand's opulent aesthetics. This project has birthed unique masterpieces after two years of painstaking work, each of which was inspired by the operas of Italian Composer Gluseppe Verdi. The overall aesthetics of these timepieces are complemented by three classic high complications:

·  An automatic tourbillon,

·  A tourbillon with a monopusher chronograph, and

·  A tourbillon with a minute repeater.

Each and every piece connecting ancient arts with modern technologies and rare materials. Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Orologeria is a collection of four unique watches, each of them opulent in its own way, peppered with gemstones and hewn from precious metals.

NABUCCO

Dedicated to the archangel Michael, the 44 mm Nabucco features an MHC-manufactured micro rotor-powered tourbillon and an engraved Archangel Michael at the top of the bezel, which required a few months of painstaking goldsmithing and hand-engraving. Initially artificer wanted to carve the full name of Dolce & Gabbana into the bridge, but unfortunately, even master engravers could not achieve that level of precision. The self-winding movement inside the Nabucco is apparently entirely structured around hand-engraved bridges, but only the sun-shaped rotor is visible through the caseback.

MACBETH

Verdi's opera Macbeth (based on the Shakespear’s play), served as the inspiration for this creation. The Macbeth has second and minute counters, engraved gold dial as well as a power reserve indicator. The watch also comes with an engraved bracelet and case, which are supposed to represent the relativity of time. The movement has an impressive 100 hours of power reserve, and includes a monopusher chronograph as well as tourbillon.

DON CARLO

Don Carlo is the most ostentatious offering of the four Alta Orologeria watches. It shows off a 46 mm hand-engraved 18k gold lid fitted with a series of nine cushion-cut emeralds. The case reveals a lustrous deep green hue laser-carved jade dial. This watch is also equipped with a minute repeater complication.

OTELLO

Inspired by Verdi’s Otello, displays a 38 mm case and seems to be a modest example of 17th century Venetian Baroque jewellery. It was fitted with a restored manual-wound movement and a mother of pearl dial. The ornate gold bezel framing dial is most distinguishable in Otello watch. It is hand carved in the Venetian Baroque style by master engravers. Movement-wise, Otello is the simplest of the four timepieces, with an antique manual-winding calibre from the early 20th century housed inside the case. The movement was painstakingly engraved by Italian artisans, lovingly restored by Swiss watchmakers, and took over seven months to complete.
