Naples Winter Wine Festival 2020 Raises over $20 Million for Children's Charities breaks auction record

Over the last 20 years, a blend of wealthy bidders and ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ deals helped the Naples Winter Wine Festival to brought in more than $191 million to change the lives of local children. Naples Winter Wine Festival (NWWF) 2020 shattered its previous record and raised more than $20 million for its founding organization. This is the highest amount ever raised at a U.S. charity wine auction which brings the total raised in the history of the event to $212 million.

Over 700 guests, including comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, pro golfer Greg Norman and TV personality Judge Judy Sheindlin, gathered at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla., to celebrate the festival's 20th year. Thanks to a yacht-sized lot that sold for $1,050,000 and other jaw-dropping bids, Saturday's live auction raised $15.5 million, surpassing last year's $13 million. Since its inaugural event in 2001, the festival has raised over $212 million for the children of Collier County, Fla., through the Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF).

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Naples Children and Education Foundation, a charity which supports at-risk and underprivileged children in Florida’s Collier County.

Some of the world’s best-known winemakers and vineyard owners flew in to attend one of the biggest events in the high society calendar in the US.

Organisers said, the lot was created to celebrate 20 years of the NCEF. Also, there was an online-only auction, which ran until 28 January.
