McDonald's is auctioning off 18k gold Shamrock Shake cup worth nearly $100,000 to celebrate the Shamrock Shake's 50th anniversary
McDonald’s is dropping two luxurious golden cups - one for auction and the other to give away in honor of its legendary Shamrock Shake's 50th anniversary. To celebrate its golden anniversary the fast-food chain is auctioning off a glitzy collectible cup for a good cause.
According to a McDonald's spokesperson, Golden Shamrock Shake cup, is appraised at worth nearly $100,000 and is made with high-polish 18k gold and embellished with 50 green emeralds, 50 white diamonds, and 50 yellow diamonds featuring Golden Arches logo representing the 50 years of the iconic green drink.
All of the winning bid will go to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC), which helps support families with ill or injured children during difficult times.
In an email Kelly Dolan, chief marketing and development officer at RMHC, told Business Insider "The Golden Shamrock Shake auction is an exciting way to support our mission and help keep more families together and near the medical care their child needs, when they need it most. We're grateful for the generous bidders who participate."
Customers can also try their luck at winning the other golden cup who purchases a Shamrock Shake or an Oreo Shamrock McFlurry through McDonald's app between February 25 and March 6 and be automatically entered to win. The winner will be selected in late March and will be notified by the fast-food chain directly.
