We always wonder where these rich people would like to go on vacations, because they aren’t limited by finances like most people. They choose their vacation home settings for reasons as much aesthetic as fiscal.  

Although this article showcases common vacation destinations for the rich and certainly not common to regular folks.

Necker Island

Richard Branson (Founder of the Virgin Group) bought the island for a modest $320,000 in 1978, when he was 28 years old. He went on to build one of the most exclusive resorts in the world on Necker Island. It is a private island resort in the British Virgin Islands composed of a collection of Balinese-style abodes, set on 74 acres with a fringing coral reef, submarine available for charter and a 32-person Jacuzzi among the diversions. Renting out the island for a night will cost you at least $77,500 per night. High-profile vacationers who've stayed on this island include Barack and Michelle Obama, Princess Diana, Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Kate Moss, and even Nelson Mandela. Google co-founder Larry Page had his wedding there.

Musha Cay

In 2006, the world’s greatest current magician, David Copperfield, spend $50 million for a 100-acre, lamb-shank-shaped island in the Bahamas called Musha Cay. After five years, Copperfield completed what he calls the "most magical vacation destination in the world" by spending $40 million in remodeling work. One can enjoy large amount of amenities, including an outdoor theater, a private speedboat, and beachside daybeds. The property can accommodate up to 24 guests, with rates starting from $57,000 a night for up to 12 people. Sergey Brin married now ex-wife Anne Wojcicki on Musha Cay, and Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Johnny Depp have all vacationed here.

Laucala Island

Laucala is a private island in Fiji. Once owned by the Malcom Forbes family, it’s been transformed into a luxury resort by Dietrich Mateschitz (CEO of Red Bull) who owns this favorite private island. It is a largely sustainable property surrounded by coconut plantations and turquoise lagoons where each of the 25 butler-serviced villas has a full-size swimming pool and yoga pavilion. The rates start from US$ 4,800 per one bedroom villa per night. The elite Hilltop Estate starts from $40,000 per night. Rates include all meals and activities at the resort. Laucala is a hot spot for celebrities such as Oprah and George Clooney.
