Cinema on water: Paris introduces floating movie theatre with socially distant boats

In the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic Paris has introduced the concept of a floating movie theatre. Keeping social distancing in mind, which is the key to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus this concept is introduced. This movie theatre is coming to Paris next week people where you can watch films from socially distant boats in the Seine River.

Le Cinéma sur l’Eau, or cinema on the water, has been created by cinema chain Mk2 in collaborated with Häagen-Dazs will be held on July 18 for one night only on Paris Plages.

Paris Plages is an annual event organised by the French capital, which sees temporary beaches installed along the Seine and the Bassin de la Villette.

Movie enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the screening of the film from 38 electric boats. Each boat can hold two to six people. Social distancing practice will be adhered that those on board are family or friends to ensure guests are not put at risk of the virus by mixing with strangers. To complete the experience of the cinema another 150 people will watch from deckchairs on dry land on a first-come, first-served basis.

Locals can buy raffle tickets for the boat seats till July 15. The winners of the seats will be chosen by a draw and will be notified via email.

As for the films that will be screened during the event are “A Corona Story,” a short film about the pandemic that won a contest launched by cinema chain Mk2 and another movie “Le Grand Bain,” a French comedy from 2018 about a group of men who start a synchronized swimming team.
