Cannes Lions Ad Festival Of Creativity Postponed Until October
The Cannes Lions International Festival has been celebrating creativity from across the globe since 1954, which brings the world's biggest brands and most creative people together of advertising and creative communications industry.
This festival is held yearly at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France which continues for five days in month of June where around 15,000 registered delegates from 100 countries attend this Festival making it the only truly global meeting-place for branded communications professionals to connect, share and discover. The Festival activities include multiple award ceremonies as well as an opening and closing gala.

This Year Cannes Lions organizers have confirmed the annual International Festival of Creativity will not take place amid the corona virus crisis in June and instead be moved to October. The Cannes Lions was scheduled to take place a month after the Cannes Film Festival.
The festival, originally scheduled for June 22 through 26, is now planned for Oct. 26-30. Conference organizers said that the existing Cannes Lions customers would see all passes, sponsorship arrangements and bookings roll over and remain valid for the October event.
The postponement comes as countries take increasingly strict steps to curb the spread of coronavirus. French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe began implementing restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus, including a ban on public gatherings and a temporary closure of its borders.
Thus on 18th March 2020, Chairman Philip Thomas and managing director Simon Cook issued a statement confirming the change in schedule.
The five-day event comprises a conference in the main Palais as well as its awards and many fringe events on beaches and boats. It typically attracts more than 20,000 attendees from around the world. This year’s participants for 2020 include executives from Amazon, Netflix and Microsoft, among others.
